Father-Son Weekend!

Adios guys! They left this afternoon for their Father-Son campout. The little boys (and the big boy) were so excited about going on their first campout with just their dad!

JACOB: I am going camping in 2 minutes. (The funny thing about this is that he started saying this on Monday morning.)
MOM: Can I come with you?
JACOB: NO!!!!!
JAYDEN: It is just for us 3 guys. (He then holds up his 3 fingers and lists off dad, Jacob and Jayden.)

Right before they left Jayden came up to me and said "neener neener, I'm going camping." He then spit his tongue out at me the way kids do when they are teasing someone. I think that he is excited. I can't wait to hear all about it when the return tomorrow.

I took a video of the boys before they left. You can see for yourself how excited they were!  Just push play.

School Talent Show

Jocelyn and her friend Bianca decided to do the tryouts for the school talent show. They practiced hard and sang the Taylor Swift song, "You Belong With Me." Sadly they didn't make the cuts for the talent show but they had a great time preparing for it and they now have some experience under their belts for next year. Good job ladies.

Potty Time

I was sent this picture a few days ago from a lady in my ward (thanks Julie). This is what she saw in the girl's bathroom. She first saw shoes come flying off, then the socks, then the pants, then the underwear. She couldn't wait to come into Relief Society to tell me about it when she found out that it was my little Jayden in that stall. Yes folks, in order for Jayden to go to the bathroom he feels that he needs to be stripped down of everything...I finally got him to keep his shirt on because for awhile that was coming off as well. Let me just say here that this IS NOT something that he has learned from his mom or dad. :) I guess his primary teacher has decided now that she will help him from now on because it took her so long to get him dressed again.

New Best Friend

Picture taken from FagorAmerica.com

Meet my new best friend in the kitchen.  It is an ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this appliance!  My mom bought this for me in February.  Since then I use it several times a week (in fact, I feel bad when I am not able to use it).  I had a regular stove-top pressure cooker before but never really used it.  I probably never used it because I didn't really know how to use it and because it was a little bit of work to get the pressure built up and maintained for X amount of minutes.  The electric pressure cooker is so much easier because you push how minutes you want whatever to cook for, then the rest is just automatic.  It shuts off when it is done so you don't have any burned food.  I LOVE that things cook so much quicker, have alot more flavor infused into the meats, and the best part is that my house is not getting all heated up!  Between the pressure cooker the crockpot I might not ever have to turn on my stove this summer.  I have done everything in here from whole fryer chickens (20 minutes), roasts (1 hour), meatballs (10 minutes), cheesecake (8 minutes), flan, rice (10 minutes), potatoes(6-8 minutes), and other veggies (3 minutes).  If you have any questions just ask and I will pass on some of the tasty recipes that my family has fallen in LOVE with.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Temple Sculpting

The last couple weeks we have tried to base our FHEs around temples.  We've done this because we got to take the kids to the Gila Valley Temple open house and in a couple weeks Jared, the girls and I are able to attend the Gila Valley Temple Dedication.  For our FHE this week I decided to let everyone sculpt a temple out of playdough.  While everyone was busily working on their "masterpiece" we talked about our favorite room in the temple.  Little preparation for this activity was needed but it actually turned out being a really great activity.  It was cute being able to listen to Jayden talk about Moroni and Jacob talk about the room with the cows.  Jocelyn's favorite room is the bride's room.  Jessica will get to see all of our temples when she gets back home from science camp.    I got the idea for this activity HERE.

Fossil Finders

So I finally figured out how to add video again to the blog. (For those of you who are wondering how...I had to go back and switch to the old version of blogger. When I am done uploading I will switch back to the newer updated version again.) This was such a cute little video of the boys telling about some of their "fossils" that they found at Red Knolls. (Sorry that the picture is sideways. That is something that I still need to figure out how to fix.) Click on the picture to watch the video.

Science Camp

Jessica is at Science Camp for the next 3 days.  The house seems so different without her being here.  I'm glad that she had the opportunity to go.  I can't wait to hear all the great stories in a couple days.  I am sure that Jocelyn will appreciate her sister more when she comes back because she won't have to do her chores for her!

Gila Valley Temple Open House

Jared and I took the kids to the Gila Valley Temple Open House on Friday, April 30th. We drove down after the girls got out of school on Thursday and stayed over night in Thatcher, AZ. We swam, attended the open house, saw the home that Spencer W. Kimball grew up in, and explored the Red Knolls. It was an awesome weekend. I loved being with the kids, especially in the temple.
How come every time a kid goes to a hotel one of the first things they do is jump on the bed?
Jacob & Jayden checking out the refrigerator to see if it really worked.
After a long day the boys finally passed out.  The next morning we found part of the cookie still in Jacob's mouth that he was chewing before he fell asleep.  Too funny.
After breakfast the kids were ready to go down for a swim in the hotel's indoor swimming pool.
Jessica having a good time.
Jocelyn showing off some of her skills.
Jayden ready to get out and get warm.  Brrrrr....
Jacob didn't have fun swimming until the very end.  He sat in the corner and had this pouty face on for a good portion of the time.

Kelm kids with all their treasure that they found.  The boys thought that we were on a fossil finding expedition.  They were so excited when they found their "fossils".  What a great place for the kids to wander around and use their imaginations.
