Great Day!

Friday night (February 4th), Jared and I got the wonderful opportunity to go with Jessica to the temple for her first experience to do Baptisms for the Dead.   Jessica and I were able to be baptized for 22 female family names, Jared did the baptizing and Grandpa Wolf was a witness.  It was a delightful evening to share with my daughter.  I was overcome with a great joy with the knowledge of what kind of a young lady Jessica is and the choice that she made to go to the temple that day.  I can't help but think about the feelings that I had in the temple that night and can't wait for that one day that all of my children will be around me in the temple.  That will be a glorious day.

First Talk in Church

Can you believe that this young lady is now 12 years old?  She has matured so much since she has been in Young Women's for the last 6 months.  Jessica got the opportunity to speak in church on January 23rd.  Below is the talk that she gave.  Jared and I were so proud of her because she wrote the entire talk by herself.  She studied out her subject worked on it all during the time that she typically would have been reading or watching t.v.  Jessica, you did a GREAT job on your first talk!

Good morning, my name is Jessica Kelm and I been asked to speak on coming unto Christ through fast and pray. At first I didn’t quit understand what the topic so I broke it down into 3 parts. The 3 parts are: coming unto Christ, fasting and praying. I started with fasting. There was a talk giving in 2001 by Joseph B. Werthlin titled the law of fast gave a very detailed description of fasting. He said fast when ever faith needs special fortification and one the first Sunday of every month, he said fasting with no pray you are just going hungry, and with no propose you are going hungry as well

Fasting and praying can strengthen us against times of temptation; it can also develop courage and confidence within us. This brings us to the second part

The second part is pray. The prophet Mormon warned that if anyone prays with no real intent of heart it provideth him nothing, for god receiveth none such. To make our prayers meaningful, we must pray with sincerity and “with all the energy of heart”

We also must be careful to avoid “vain repetitions” when we pray. This means Use language that shows love, respect, reverence, and closeness. We should use the pronouns of the scriptures when we address God—Thee, Thou, Thy, and Thine, rather than the more common pronouns you, your, and yours. Regardless of the language, the principle remains the same: When we pray, we should use words that appropriately convey a loving, worshipful relationship with God.

This brings us to the third is part coming unto Christ. To do this you must keep commandments, read the scriptures every day pray 2 a day and fast when your faith needs special fortification and one the first Sunday of the month.

I know coming unto Christ is important, and fasting and praying will make it easier for us

In the name of Jesus Christ amen

Science Camp

Jessica is at Science Camp for the next 3 days.  The house seems so different without her being here.  I'm glad that she had the opportunity to go.  I can't wait to hear all the great stories in a couple days.  I am sure that Jocelyn will appreciate her sister more when she comes back because she won't have to do her chores for her!

Gila Valley Temple Open House

Jared and I took the kids to the Gila Valley Temple Open House on Friday, April 30th. We drove down after the girls got out of school on Thursday and stayed over night in Thatcher, AZ. We swam, attended the open house, saw the home that Spencer W. Kimball grew up in, and explored the Red Knolls. It was an awesome weekend. I loved being with the kids, especially in the temple.
How come every time a kid goes to a hotel one of the first things they do is jump on the bed?
Jacob & Jayden checking out the refrigerator to see if it really worked.
After a long day the boys finally passed out.  The next morning we found part of the cookie still in Jacob's mouth that he was chewing before he fell asleep.  Too funny.
After breakfast the kids were ready to go down for a swim in the hotel's indoor swimming pool.
Jessica having a good time.
Jocelyn showing off some of her skills.
Jayden ready to get out and get warm.  Brrrrr....
Jacob didn't have fun swimming until the very end.  He sat in the corner and had this pouty face on for a good portion of the time.

Kelm kids with all their treasure that they found.  The boys thought that we were on a fossil finding expedition.  They were so excited when they found their "fossils".  What a great place for the kids to wander around and use their imaginations.

Biggest Winners

Saturday, March 27, 2010 the Biggest Winners Competition was held at Summit Park.  This was the big Daddy-Daughter Activity for the 8-11 year old girls and their dads.  I was one of the leaders that was in charge of this activity.  We came up with a basic theme and then the girls got to vote on what activities they wanted to do.  Each dad and daughter team was given a different colored handkerchief.  The Kelms were the red team (team name J.J.J.).  There were several relay races that the teams participated in.  The J.J.J.'s favorite was the donut eating competition!
I love being a part of the Activity Day program (a program for girls ages 8-11 years old).  I love having 2 little girls in Activity Days with me because it makes me want to make it the best program ever.  My favorite activity of the entire year is always the Father-Daughter activity.  I love seeing the dads with their daughters and seeing how they all interact.  I especially love how each of the dads treat their daughters like princesses...which is what they all are.
