13 Years!

I can't believe it! Today Jared and I have been married for 13 years. We were married in the Logan, LDS temple. A little part of me keeps thinking that it was just yesterday that we were married but the bigger part of me can't remember a time in my life without Jared. Happy Anniversary Jared! I love you!

It's Hard to Say Goodby - Especially for Jacob

Yesterday we said goodbye to Jared's old car. We donated it to the MS Foundation. The boys thought that it was the neatest thing to watch this big truck pull up to the house and put the car on the back. I should say that it was all fun and games until the guy drove off with "daddy's car". Jacob burst out in tears and kept pointing towards where the car had gone. As he is crying out about "daddy's car" Jayden kept saying, "No, this daddy's car" while he was pointing to the new wheels. Okay, he didn't say it in exactly those words, but that is basically what he said. Poor little Jacob has a hard time with change.

Harmless Garden Tool

Doesn't this look like a harmless garden tool?

Answer: it is harmless until it is shoved into the air conditioning fan blades. No damage was done to the boys (by the upset mom) or to the air conditioning (WHEW!). The boys knew that they were in serious trouble as soon as they did it because of the deafening noise that started as soon as they put the shovel in the A.C. They were both trying to push each other out of the way trying to get into the house first. Without me even saying a word to them, they went right on to the "Time-Out" couch in the living room. I didn't get a picture of the air conditioner but I did get a picture of the boys in their time-out positions. Now the funny part of the story (yes, I can laugh at it now) was watching me run up the stairs with my big boot on so that I could shut the air conditioning off. Once the air conditioning was turned off I went outside to the unit to inspect what the little rascals had done. That was when I found the little hand shovel inside the A.C. Of course, the boys each blame each other. The one thing that they agree on however was that it was Jocelyn's shovel. Hmmmm....who is to blame here?

Jared's New Ride

Jared got his new car on Saturday after a couple weeks of driving the van to work everyday. He spent a lot of time test driving and looking up different cars and reviews and etc. online. He did most of the haggling online with the different Hyundai dealerships in the valley. Friday night Jared and the dealership came to an agreement. Saturday morning we went to the dealership to sign all the papers and pick up his new wheels. We started the car shopping experience thinking about buying a Hyundai Elantra or a Mazda 3. After much debate we pretty much decided we were going to go with the Elantra, but after test driving the Elantra again we changed our minds. We started focusing more on the Sonatas. We ended up buying the 2009 Hyundai Sonata. There are great rebates going on right now with the Sonata and their was only 2 MPG difference between the two cars. He looks pretty stylish in his new car. He has been loving driving to work knowing that his car now can go over 60 miles per hour and he loves the XM radio that came with it.

Good-Bye Old Friend

Yesterday I took back the scooter that I have been renting since I had my foot surgery 5 1/2 weeks ago. All weekend long I kept going back and forth whether or not I should rent it for another week. When Monday morning came I knew that my time was up on it, but it was still sad. I have had it with me every day and it has helped me get around. So the sad part about giving up my little "scoot-scoot" is that now it is just me and my boot. The kids were bummed that I was getting rid of their favorite play toy. The good part of not having the scooter around anymore means that I am actually healing. YIPPEE! I am walking around a lot better than I was even a week ago. I am able to go up and down the stairs now and am able to putter around the house and get a few things done. It is a great feeling to start functioning like a mom again!
