What I Didn't Know About

I know that there were things that happened and I didn't know about when was laid up in bed. Here are a couple that I ended up finding out about as I was downloading pictures from the camera. (To all my friends who dare send their kids to come and play again: All toys will be disinfected before your kids come to play!)

So what you need to know about these pictures is that Jared is in the house cleaning out the 150 gallon fish aquarium. Hmmmm....who is watching the boys outside? The other thing that needs to be mentioned is that I think that the water coming out of the hose is from the aquarium. I don't know if I even want to find out for sure. Looks like I have some work ahead of me to sanitize ALL of their toys!

Jocelyn's New Look

Jocelyn got her new glasses today. I couldn't believe that they came so early. She is especially happy that she got her very own bottle of cleaner. She told me earlier today that today was the best day of her whole life. She was able to see the Jonas Brothers perform on Good Morning America and she got her glasses. I would love to be 8 years old again and have such little things make me so happy.

UPDATE: To See or not to See

We are proud to say that Jocelyn failed today. The eye doctor was so sweet and was trying to comfort Jocelyn about having to wear glasses. "You only need to wear them when you are reading." And "mom don't try and force her to wear the glasses." Both Jared and I started laughing and said that she definitely didn't have to try and convince Jocelyn to wear glasses, this has been something she has been dreaming about since her doctor's appointment last week. We found out that she is far-sighted in her right eye, which means she can't see close up. When we started looking at frames you can only imagine the ones that she wanted to try on. She will get her glasses in 7 working days so until then your can just imagine what kind of glasses she picked out. Pics will come soon!

To See or not to See

Have you ever met someone that wanted to fail a test? Jocleyn has an eye exam today with an opthamologist. She had a well visit last week at the doctor's office. She failed the eye exam with her right eye. The next step is to take her to the opthamologist to find out how bad or how good her eyes are. She desperately wants to fail so that she can wear glasses. Pink is the color of her choice. We will see if she gets her own way.

Reflections

Memorial Day weekend and the month of June are bittersweet to me. They bring back many memories of my dad and of him passing away, but June also brings happy memories of me finally being sealed to my family.

One of my favorite things about my dad was how he used to tell stories and talk to EVERYONE! One story that I heard multiple times was about my dad's friend. This friend was recently remarried to a woman that had young children. He was not used to having kids around the house anymore because his were all grown. One day he took the boys to the gas station with him, and he left them all there. He only discovered that they were left behind when they showed up on the doorstep wondering why he left them. My dad razzed him forever about that! Even as I am typing this, Jared is laughing because of this story. It is not only because we knew this man but because we can still hear the way my dad told the story.

If you were heckled or given a bad time by my dad you knew that you were well liked. When Jared and I first started going out together my dad always called him "JoAnn's long haired Indian". (In case you didn't know Jared back in those days, the story will make more sense when you find out that he had very long hair.) The first time that he came over to the house he had to leave before the dessert was offered. I dished him up some dessert and told him to take it home with him. My dad heckled Jared for years of whether or not Jared ever brought back the bowl. (In case you're wondering, the bowl was returned the next day.) My girls were the first grandkids so of course, he also gave them a bad time. He always told them if they couldn't tell him when their birthdays were that we weren't going to be able to celebrate them. One joke that kind of backfired on him was when he tried to tease Jocelyn into putting grapes on her pizza. Mmmmm...she loved adding this on her pizzas for quite awhile.

June 6, 2006 was such a great day for me. I was sealed to my parents and my dad was sealed to his parents and sister as well. My little niece Tara was also born that day. What a great day to have a little precious spirit come down to earth and be a part of the Gnehm family. I wonder how many stories Grandpa Gnehm filled her with before he let her come down here!
